Snow disruption in Pheasey

Another large snowfall today and just went for a walk and the place looks really beautiful in white.

We have heard that Meadowview and Barr Beacon schools are closed, no news on Pheasey Paark Farm. However looking around every other local school, Sandwell, Birmingham and Aldridge are closed so expect Pheasey to follow.

However the gritting operation around here is very poor. No gritters on Hillingford nor Collingwood and this is very poor by Walsall Council. I do not even think that they have been out at all on roads used by buses and very dangerous on hills.

I should add that I have tweeted Walsall Council a few times today and no reply to the gritting question. I was in Dudley earlier today and all their side roads are done never mind the major bus routes like we have. If you are due to catch a bus I would suggest go and catch one on the Queslett Road stops tomorrow.

All details about the buses are HERE

EDIT – 22:12

Poor communication from Pheasey Park Farm as nothing heard. Can only presume make a call first thing tomorrow but every single school close to us has been closed.

Been snowing now for more than 14 hours continuously and cleared car only two hours ago and already covered. Lets hope they actually decide to grit the estate this time.

I have sent an Email to the councillors asking them for details and will put any answer on the site when I get it.

EDIT – MONDAY 09:00

Pheasey Park Farm as you will now know is shut and no buses on the Estate yet and appears little gritting.

  1. 23.1.13 at 7am today once again Top end of Hillingford Avenue looking like a launchpad for a ski sunday jump, a bus had acutally tried to get up just getting past Raeburn/Chantry before grinding to a halt sliding across the road therefore stuck in a dangerous position as a few cars trying to use the ski-slop (sorry road) were heading towards it. You mention Aldridge being cleared is that maybe because the Councillor for Aldridge / Central south is Tom Ansell who just happens to be responsible for environment specialising in grit bin comments etc

Come on our local councillors we need some action on Pheasey 99.8 per cent properties owner occs. paying council tax its about time we got something back for what we paid in. Even the sign “Community Centre” which took 3 workmen 1 lorry and half a day errcted on the island “our gateway to our estate”” is not straight surely you should have noticed this and made the contractor come back and put it right at their expense. The area around the bus terminus could do with smartening up it is begining to look shabby, The area in front of the shops needs better paving maybe some nice paving slabs like in Aldridge, Bloxwich, Pelsall and instead of those horrible bollards why not the nice ones made of natural wood that have been strategically placed on corner of Doe Bank and Frampton. Come on people of Pheasey we dont have to put up with this lets start having public meetings with our Councillors and leaders of the Council departments at least once every two months not just the individual surgeries remember more people who speak as one voice the more the Councillors and Council takem notice.. I speak from experience.
By the way I did phone the Council when I got in regarding the condition on Hillingford Avenue was greeted by achappie who said my manager said the road is OK, I asked if that person had actually been onto the estate and negotiated this road in the mornings over the last four days he said can I take your number and she will call you back…. I am waiting in hope as i is now 8.15 pm and did they return my call No………

I have lived on the Pheasey for over 50 years please dont let this estate start to look neglected once it does it takes more money to pull it back
next time you travel through Aldridge, Paddockl, etc take a look at the roads the pavements and how clean it is and why do we not have the same….

  2. Thanks Meg and I had the same problem going down Hillingford today at half 5 and took me 5 mins to get down from Tyndale, great eh ?

Still no reply from the councillors. Whilst I may not be their favourite person my email was courteous and not a reply. I guess as none of them live here and have to attempt to get off the estate when we have snow, what do they care ?

  3. Thanks , I’ve just been looking for information approximately this subject for ages and yours is the greatest I have discovered so far. But, what in regards to the bottom line? Are you positive about the source?
